Should I use nails or screws for my decking?
The expert opinion from decking suppliers is “It’s better to screw composite decking boards instead of using nails”. There is a use for nails but mainly for the frame of the decking and not the fastening of the boards. The professional fitters tend to feel screws are better to use due to their better tensile strength plus they will be less likely to pop out, which can be an issue with decking when nails are used.
